Dan Westin, CFP®, ChFC®, CASL®
Senior Managing Director

Dan enjoys building high value relationships with clients, learning what matters most to them and helping them plan and steward their wealth so they have confidence in their financial future. In addition, he oversees the advisory and service teams for the firm’s wealth management division and is a partner in the firm.

Dan holds the Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Financial Consultant® and Chartered Advisor for Senior Living® designations. For more than 10 years with QA, he has worked with tax, audit and consulting clients, developing a deep knowledge on how to address their unique needs. He earned a BS in Business Finance from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul and has been serving client families for over 15 years.

In his free time, Dan enjoys traveling, coaching his four kids in sports, is actively involved with his wife Brittney in their local church and likes spending time outdoors hiking and camping.

Kyle Olson, CFP®, ChFC®
Managing Director

Kyle primarily serves our Big 4 tax, audit and consulting clients, seeking to first understand what matters most to them and then helping them plan for and achieve their financial goals. He also provides a leadership role for the firm’s wealth management division and is a partner in the firm.

Kyle is a Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Financial Consultant® with over 15 years of experience. Since joining QA in 2010, he has focused on our Big 4 clients, gaining a deep knowledge of their complex pensions, capital and other benefits to effectively help them plan and invest. Kyle has a BS in finance from North Park University in Chicago.

Kyle enjoys downhill skiing as well as hiking with his wife Tricia, their three children and dog Dakota. He also mentors high school students at his church and is invested in helping the people of Nicaragua, including traveling there every couple of years to help several families he is connected with.

Kevin Lawson, CFP®, CTFA
Senior Wealth Management Advisor

Kevin helps clients define their goals and develop a financial plan using the latest technology and QA’s wealth management services. He is also a key resource for the firm’s financial planning platform, tools and systems.

Kevin holds the Certified Financial Planner and Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designations. He has over 15 years of experience, which includes a background in trust administration and charitable planning. He graduated from North Park University in Chicago with a BS in finance.

In his free time, Kevin enjoys exploring parks and bike trails with his family as well as cheering on the Minnesota sports teams. He resides in Edina with his wife and two kids.

Jack Ecker
Wealth Management Advisor

Jack helps clients make wise financial decisions and create long-term, personalized financial plans. He focuses on the unique needs of tax, audit and consulting professionals and is also a key resource for the firm’s retirement allocation program online system.

Jack has over 15 years of experience serving clients financial needs and providing personalized advice. He earned a BA in communications at North Park University in Chicago.

In his free time, Jack enjoys coaching his kids’ athletic teams and getting away to the family cabin. He lives in Woodbury, Minnesota with his wife and four children.

Ron Evans, CFP®
Wealth Management Advisor

Ron focuses on meeting the specific objectives of clients to help them reach their financial goals. His tax and accounting background helps inform how to best serve the financial needs of clients.

Ron is a Certified Financial Planner with over 15 years of experience, including as an advisor and Chief Financial Officer at Hopkins Financial Advisors, LLC. He has a BA in accounting and business administration from Delaware State University in Dover.

Ron, along with his wife Kathy, enjoy spending time with their seven grandchildren. His author of choice is Clive Cussler and his activities/hobbies include boating, golf, hunting and traveling.

Tad Kastman
Wealth Management Advisor

Tad is passionate about helping others pursue financial freedom. He focuses on serving tax, audit and consulting professionals, working through the financial challenges they face.

Tad worked in the accounting field for over 10 years, including as a Tax Manager at Deloitte. He has a BA in accounting from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and a Masters of Taxation from the University of Denver.

When he is not helping clients, Tad enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids. They love living in Northeast Minneapolis and are fully invested in their community, including serving at their local church.

Christian Ray, CFP®
Wealth Management Advisor

Christian focuses largely on Big 4 tax, audit and consulting clients, helping them design and implement a plan to achieve their financial goals and objectives.

Christian is a Certified Financial Planner and has over 10 years of financial services experience. Prior to joining QA in 2019, he was as an advisor working mainly with partners and principals at Big 4 firms. He graduated with a BS in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

In his free time, Christian enjoys being active with his wife Madeline and their sons, Oliver and Bennett. They love spending time at the cabin and traveling to see family.

Pat Rosvold
Associate Wealth Management Advisor

Pat focuses on developing a financial roadmap for clients to help them achieve their goals and serves a central role for the firm’s financial planning services.

Pat has worked in client facing roles within the financial services industry since 2016 and has a BA in economics from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.

In his free time, Pat enjoys traveling, hunting, fishing and spending time with family. He resides in Plymouth with his wife Megan.

Shelley Hall
Manager of Client Services

Shelley values building relationships with our clients and strives to make the administrative tasks as easy as possible for them.  She joined QA in 2007, having served in various administrative roles previously.

In her free time, Shelley enjoys walking, bicycling and spending time on the lakes of Minnesota.

Allie Heckathorn
Client Services Specialist

Allie is committed to putting our clients first and making sure their needs are met.  She handles a wide variety of service requests and has developed strong client relationships since joining QA in 2011.

Away from work, Allie enjoys biking, kayaking, swimming, spending time with her two children and playing with her dogs.

Investment Management Team

James Ferrin, CFA
Chief Investment Officer

Jim oversees all portfolio management related activities, including the firm’s proprietary investment strategies. In addition to leading our investment management team, he is a member of our Executive Committee and a partner in the firm.

For over 25 years, Jim has served both individuals and institutions through various roles within the asset management industry. He is a CFA® charterholder, a member of the CFA Society of Minnesota and earned a BA in business finance from Bethel University in St. Paul.

Jim enjoys time with his family, involvement with youth sports and golf. He also serves as a board member at Chapel Hill Academy.

David Slegh, CFA, CAIA
Portfolio Manager

David is a member of QA’s investment management team, with shared responsibility for managing the firm’s investment strategies and analyzing the portfolio construction process. He also contributes to investment strategy development and design. Additionally, David interfaces with advisors to explain QA’s investment strategies within the context of their clients’ portfolios.

Before joining QA in 2015, David was a Portfolio Manager for a Minneapolis-based wealth management firm and served on their investment committee and compliance review board. He is a CFA® charterholder, a member of the CFA Society of Minnesota and received a BBA in finance and management from the University of Minnesota in Duluth.

In his free time, David is an active volunteer in a variety of organizations, which includes serving as a board member for the CFA Society of Minnesota. When not volunteering, David can be found at the gym playing pickup basketball or out on the soccer field when the Minnesota weather cooperates. David and his wife Rachel enjoy cooking and experiencing the world’s endless wonder through travel.

TJ Sigstad, CMT
Manager of Trading and Portfolio Operations

TJ supports all aspects of the managed account business including portfolio implementation, performance reporting and account administration. He is a member of our investment management team and provides advice in relation to trade considerations.

Prior to joining QA in 2011, TJ was a Securities Lending Trader at a local firm. He is a CMT® charterholder and earned a BS in finance and economics from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

In his free time, TJ stays busy keeping up with his wife and two children and enjoys golfing and spending time outdoors.

Executive Team

John Wing
Chief Executive Officer

John focuses much of his time on the strategic direction, growth and executive management of the firm, consistent with our guiding principle and core values. In addition, he works closely with our advisory and investment teams to help support the evolving needs of our clients.

Prior to co-founding QA in 2000, John began his career as a Merrill Lynch financial advisor and branch manager in Chicago before starting an independent advisory firm. He earned a BA in economics from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and has worked in the financial industry for over 30 years.

John and his wife Lisa have three college-age children and are active in their local church and community charities. John enjoys spending time outdoors during each of the seasons, paddling, biking and hiking.

Graham van der Leeuw
Chief Operating Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel

In addition to his legal and compliance roles, Graham provides firm-wide executive leadership in support of John Wing, Chief Executive Officer, and is a partner in the firm.

Graham joined QA in 2009, having previously served as the firm’s outside legal counsel while a partner in Faegre & Benson’s Investment Management Practice. He has business and law degrees from various countries, including the University of Natal, South Africa, William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul and the University of Oxford, England, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.

A tennis player during the summer months, Graham enjoys running and walking along the Mississippi River near his home in St. Paul, and spending time with his teenage daughters. He is also an active member of his parish.

Kurt Brandt
Chief Financial Officer

Kurt oversees all financial aspects of the firm through careful planning and analysis, seeking to align the firm’s financial resources with its goals for the future. In addition, he serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and is a partner in the firm.

Kurt is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) with over 20 years of experience in public accounting and financial services. He earned a BA in accounting from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

In his free time, Kurt enjoys reading, travel and outdoor pursuits.
